DevOps and platform engineering

Releases that are repeatable, reviewable and boring, the way they should be.

We build the delivery machinery behind your software: pipelines, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes and container platforms, security scanning and the change process that keeps production safe.

DevOps and platform engineering
The problem

What this solves

Releases depend on one person

Manual deploys work until that person is away. We turn them into pipelines anyone on the team can run.

Infrastructure was built by clicking

Console-built resources drift and nobody knows why something exists. We import what matters into Terraform and remove the rest.

Database changes break production

Code that ships before its migration runs causes errors. We make migrations a gate that must pass before the new version goes live.

Nobody signs off production changes

We introduce lightweight written change requests so every go-live has an owner, a plan and a rollback.

Deliverables

What you get

  • CI/CD in GitHub Actions or GitLab CI with dev, staging and production flows
  • Terraform modules and state set up properly, with drift detected
  • Kubernetes on Amazon EKS, Rancher-managed clusters or bare metal
  • Container image scanning in the pipeline and in the registry, and secrets management
  • A change approval template and register for production go-lives
  • A platform map: which systems exist, who owns them and how they connect
Engagements

Ways to work with us

  • Pipeline set-up for one or more applications
  • Terraform adoption and drift clean-up
  • Kubernetes platform build or migration
  • Release governance set-up
  • Engineering team coaching and review

Scope this with us

Process

How the work runs

  1. Map

We list every system, how it is built, deployed and owned.

  2. Codify

Infrastructure goes into Terraform and deploys into pipelines.

  3. Harden

Scanning, secrets, approvals and rollback are added.

  4. Hand over

Your team runs it, with documentation and a walkthrough.

Results from the field

What changed when we did this work

28services moved off an end-of-life OS in one nightUpgrades

Every cluster migrated ahead of the operating system's end of life in a single overnight window.

1migration gate on every releasePipelines

Rebuilt a deploy pipeline that registered database migrations but never ran them, causing production errors.

27systems mapped in one platform frameworkArchitecture

Every system, owner and connection documented, peer-reviewed and adopted by leadership.

4production go-lives under signed change requestsChange control

An approval process and template used for platform and module launches.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us

Still unsure? Ask us directly; you will get an answer from an engineer.

What is the difference between DevOps and cloud engineering?

Cloud engineering is about where your systems run and how they are connected. DevOps and platform engineering is about how changes get from a developer's laptop to production safely and repeatably.

Do we need Kubernetes?

Not always. For a handful of services, a managed container service is often simpler. We recommend Kubernetes when the number of services, teams or environments justifies it.

Can you work with our existing developers?

Yes. Most of this work is done alongside your team so they own the result.

We use GitLab, not GitHub. Is that a problem?

No. We work with both, including self-hosted GitLab.
